Artist Statement

Reading People and Place

I work between painting and photography as two ways of reading the trace of people and place. The practice is concerned with the face as a psychological space, and the city as a daily archive of light, detail, and memory.

Extended Bio

150 words

Mohammad Al Omar is the professional name of Mohammad Omar Alkhateeb, a visual artist and photographer based in Amman, Jordan. His practice moves between figurative and expressive painting and photography, with attention to faces, place, everyday memory, and the effect of light on the image. He holds a BSc in Software Engineering from Philadelphia University, completed in 2009; that technical background appears in the method and archive rather than as the front of the artistic identity. Since 2020, he has continued developing a visual archive between painting and photography, focused on the city and transient human presence. He has participated in solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, and symposia in Jordan and abroad, and is a member of the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association.
